MY GO TO KURTA BRANDS
If you are an Indian Medical College Student like me. you have had the pleasure of wearing kurtis to college everyday. no pun intended.
I didn’t wear a lot of kurtis in
school. so I felt this way, I could explore our Indian attire much more and I love them.
So over five years I experimented with many brands and these three brands are still strong
Fabindia
Introduced this to a lot of my friends also.
Later on I realised what I love is the traditional prints. Ajrakh, Kalamkari, Indigo and the likes.
Compared to other handcrafted brands like
the loom and Jaypore, I found this better priced and equally good. Plus this is a very old brand the others comparatively quite new.
I am not saying everything is great. but yeah most of the kurtas are pretty good.
Half my wardrobe consists of cotton kurtas from Fabindia.
I wish they would pay me. I promote it so much 😛
I have found one more handloom brand around the same range or even cheaper and will review it soon!
WforWoman
which I don’t like. Not good for the environment, and not so breathable but they have recently started promoting liva eco fabric which is considered sustainable and they also have cotton kurtas so I try to buy Kurtas with these material.
Also initially, they had a lot of digital prints and flowery collections and from afar you could tell it was a W kurti but recently they have expanded their designs and dabbled into more festive wear. I really like their new collection.
But unfortunately, I won’t have much occasion to wear Kurtis if I go to study in the states so I haven’t bought anything from the new collection. 🙁
Btw, in medical college, since you have to wear apron over your kurti I used to feel very stuffed wearing jackets or sweater underneath that.
so I bought woollen kurtis 5-6 and they are all from W. Attracted a lot of attention.
I was very happy with the look. Though the fit is snug of most kurtas.
If you search in myntra, type winter kurtas.
Westside
A cheaper fast fashion brand have these rs.600 priced kurtas line which are pretty nice.
Three to four years back it had this circular with a v in middle kind of neckline which I used to absolutely adore, but they have changed it to a chinese collar neck line with buttons.
I so prefer the older neckline cause I felt it suited me better but never the less
these regular wear kurtas have a good sturdy cotton feel and look smart.
They also are pretty long lasting. My sister got bored after wearing it so regularly that she donated three four while they still had their colour and look.
Many Others I have tried , mentioning three more.
1.Moda Rapido- will not buy again.
Not to offend the brand but the pictures of the kurta they put are really cute but on ordering the materials was not very nice. had no hold of its own.
and the kurta didnot last long.
2. Global Desi- a more affordable label of Anita dongre. both the things I ordered turned out decent. Will try again
3. Here and Now- Not good at all. The material was really bad. and cut was so so.
There are so many other brands that pique my interest and I will be reviewing them soon!
Tell me in the comments below if you have tried any of these.? if yes did you like them?
what are your favourites?
